Anybody that's worked with me probably knows how much I like to focus on the eccentric, or lowering phase, of a lift. But needless to say, the concentric phase (up) is plenty important too. It's how you train for power, and... well, it's generally what the expression of strength IS. But another benefit of concentric-focused movements is that this phase produces the most lactate, which results in the most growth hormone, which is SUPER important for any body-composition targeted program. So the DB push press is a welcome addition to any fat loss workout, in that it (generally) emphasizes the push as opposed to the lowering.
